"Cap and Tax" Bill Faces Delays Due to Climate

Bloomberg is reporting that the Senate has postponed the introduction of a global warming bill until later in September than originally planned.  The Senators from both parties realize that passing a large tax during a recession, with the American people watching, will result in lost seats due to the current souring political climate.  They also must realize that any such legislation would come down to a close vote since they cited Sen. Kerry's absence (hip surgery) and Sen. Kennedy's empty seat as the key reasons for the delay.

With all of the dialog now focused on the healthcare debate, don't forget the fact that there are more bills floating around out there full of "hope and change."

Reid Tries to Bully Newspaper

Last week, I posted some news from the Las Vegas Review-Journal concerning Senator Reid's plummeting popularity in his home state of Nevada. It seems that Reid has decided that the paper is the root of his problems and not his politics.  Last week at a Chamber of Commerce luncheon, Reid expressed his displeasure by telling an executive of the Review-Journal "I hope you go out of business."  The fact that this executive was in charge of advertising and has nothing to do with generating news articles apparently eluded the Senator.

Shining a Flashlight on the Cockroaches

House Financial Services committee chair Barney Frank was misquoted last week by several news agencies and bloggers as saying that the "House will pass HR 1207 in October." Ron Paul’s bill to audit the Federal Reserve (HR 1207) and its companion bill in the Senate (S 604) are gaining momentum and this seemed like welcome news.  According to Rasmussen, 75% favor auditing the Fed and it has 282 co-sponsors so there is a good chance this bill will be brought to a vote. 

Every silver lining has a cloud unfortunately; the sentence that was left out of Congressman Frank's quote was "that will be part of the overall federal regulation that we are redacting."  Congressman Paul's web site moved quickly to set the record straight , but the corrected quote has me concerned.  It appears that Congressman Frank was talking about the financial regulation legislation that he is crafting which might include all or a portion of Ron Paul's bill.  It is extremely important that we shine some light on the Fed's books, and it would be a tragedy for HR 1207 to be  watered-down and stuck in "Fannie and Freddie Fiasco" Frank's bill. 

We Are Racists Again

As I mentioned in an earlier post, as soon as they were seriously challenged on any potential new legislation, the Dems would start to play the race card.

A video of Congresswoman Diane Watson (D-CA33)  is below.  She starts off by calling those who oppose Obamacare racists and then goes on about Cuba's healthcare system.  She may have also just exposed her core belief system.  It sure sounds to me like she approves of and even admires the communist revolution that removed the "wealthy" capitalists.  I wonder what her constituents in the well-to-do Los Feliz area of Los Angeles would think of this?

I Love Your Shiny New Signs!

In an earlier post, I made the argument that the Dems were being hypocritical for blasting grassroots healthcare protesters for being "organized."  This whole town hall meeting affair reminds me of the oft repeated quote:

"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win." - Mahatma Gandhi

The tax day tea party protests were largely ignored—as much as they could be—by the media.  The initial town hall protests resulted in democrats ridiculing the senior citizens and everyday Americans who showed up to protest an out-of-control government as: Nazis, Brown Shirts, "Tea-Baggers", a "mob", Astroturf and other assorted vile things.

Now, the Democrats have realized, although too late in my opinion, that they had better fight.  Check out the shiny new signs (no organization there):

 

The winning part is coming thanks to the "mob", otherwise know as everyone's Aunt Sally and Uncle Fred.

Ted Without Borders

First we hear of a renewed push for government-run healthcare, which is being called "Kennedycare."  Now the rush is on to further capitalize on Ted Kennedy's death by using it to push for immigration reform (open borders to you and I).  Remember Rahm's rule—take any opening or crisis that presents itself and start ramming through legislation as fast as you can.

Thank you for your support.  Never forget that the American people understand and value our special relationship.  Hopefully, your display of how a free people conduct themselves with honor will be a lesson to those that are still living in fear.
